How to Write in Hindi Using Google IME?

This is a general question for any new Hindi learner that how to write in Hindi online? I know that there are plenty of Hindi fonts available, but going for this option one requires to learn Hindi typing before learning Hindi itself.

So, I got a very easy solution to this problem or I should say Google got a solution. It has invented a software which can convert the English version of Hindi words into Hindi scripts.

For example, I have downloaded that software named ‘Google IME’  in my system and when I turn on Hindi script in it, I type ‘mera’ in English and when I press SPACE key, that converts it into ‘मेरा’. It shows various options in it, so if you’re expecting something else, you can choose it by dragging your selection with the help of right and left arrow keys on your keyboard or by pressing the number key denoting in the option.

The advantages of using this software for writing in Hindi are -

  • Typing speed will be fast as you don’t need to learn the Hindi layout of the keyboard.
  • Less errors during typing as you search for the correct spelling of the words.
  • You can easily change the languages (i.e. Hindi and English) by pressing shortcut keys Ctrl+G, so you don’t need to turn on or off software for changing languages.

The disadvantages of the software is nothing as per my knowledge, but you can download Google IME only on Window XP, Window Vista and Window 7. If you’re using anyone of them, then here is a tutorial about how to download Google IME (Hindi) in your system. Read the rest of this entry »
